About Electronic Notetaking

Electronic Notetaking enables deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people to fully access meetings, classes, seminars, medical appointments and lectures of all types. Due to lip-reading or watching an interpretor, deaf people are often unable to take notes at such events and so the role of an electronic notetaker is to bridge this gap.

This is not a verbatim service, rather operators are trained to summarise (précis) information and type this summary into a laptop. The notetaker's laptop is connected to the client's and the summarised text appears on the client's screen in real time, allowing the client to participate fully.

Notes of the meeting/lecture/medical appointments can be copied on to USB stick or disk at the end of the assignment, or emailed to the client at a later stage.
